Can I use essential oils if I’m pregnant?

There are no specific reasons or contraindications that would prevent pregnant or breastfeeding women from using my trusted brand of essential oils especially when applied topically. Some individuals prefer to avoid internal use during pregnancy and some use essential oils only aromatically during the first trimester. Several oils may be particularly helpful during and after delivery. Internal use of Peppermint essential oil should be avoided while nursing as it may reduce milk supply (not for everyone though).

Note that some oils are considered unsafe during pregnancy. Know what these are based on the trimester you are in. Oils to avoid in pregnancy: Basil, Black Pepper, Birch, Cassia, Cinnamon and Clary Sage.

I personally have many resources available to educate you on the proper use of essential oils when you are pregnant and/or nursing and can email those to you if you contact me directly.
